‘Earth Shakti Rising’ recognizes that the earth’s shakti—her power and energy, is rising within us as we strive as a species to rekindle our relationship with her and bring ourselves back into balance and sustainability with the planetary biosphere.
During this time of rising fears about ecological collapse and societal disturbances, this 6-week online class starting Feb 1,2020 offers art practices used in ecotherapy and in the field of ecopsychology to help people cultivate a sacred relationship with the earth and to have strategies to build hope, resilience, joy and create a vision for the world they want to see.
Participants are invited into a deepening relationship with Gaia, with the planetary intelligence, through a series of art and self-reflective exercises. By using art and practices in nature, we support a more balanced whole-brain approach to bring balance in ourselves and to a culture that has been too left-brain oriented and dominated by mechanistic thinking. We will focus on investigating the “Ecological Self” through our art and practice in nature. The evidence of a whole new earth culture rising is visible in all the efforts towards sustainability and righting our relationship with nature. At the same time, dire messages out there about ecological collapse cause despair and a sense of helplessness in many people. What can we do? How can we support ourselves and others through this time? I am excited to offer a new online class starting February 1, 2020 which provides an opportunity to strengthen our hope and resilience and create a vision for the new world.
I call it Earth Shakti Rising: Journey to the Ecological Self and in the class we will deepen our practice of listening to the voice of the earth through nature practices, art, and ritual to widen into a larger sense of our ‘ecological self.’ (No art experience necessary!) The ‘ecological self’ is a term referring to our inter-connectedness to the natural world. Turns out Earth herself is our greatest guide through these times! My experience through my own many years of working in ecopsychology is that by aligning ourselves with her, deepening our relationship with her, we strengthen ourselves to work on her behalf and hold space for this new regenerative earth culture. Nature + Art = Joy + Resilience! Join us in cultivating your own sacred relationship with Earth and together we will build strategies for creating joy, hope, resilience and a vision of the world you want to see. This is Earth-based self-care!
